Buying GeoRide: everything you need to know

There are two ways to get a GeoRide: online at georide.fr, to buy or to rent, or from one of the official resellers across France. Two devices are in the catalogue: the GeoRide mini at €199 (or €9.99/month on rental) and the GeoRide 3s at €299 (or €14.99/month), with a €5/month subscription, no commitment, when you buy.

Where to buy GeoRide: official site or reseller?

GeoRide is available on georide.fr and from official resellers; rental, however, is only available on the site. By ordering online, you freely choose between buying and renting, and your device is delivered straight to your door.

Would you rather see the product before deciding? Official resellers, spread across France, sell the devices with expert advice, an in-store demonstration and, in some outlets, fitting on the spot. GeoRide mini or GeoRide 3s: which one to choose?

The GeoRide mini covers the essentials of protection (real-time location, alerts, post-theft Assistance), while the GeoRide 3s adds automatic phone recognition, underground radar detection and compatibility with the Live accessories. The 3s is the most complete and most recent device in the range.

A simple rule of thumb: if your motorcycle sleeps in an underground car park, the 3s underground radar changes everything. Buy or rent: which option works out best?

Rental is ideal for getting equipped without paying up front, and buying works out better after roughly 2 years of use. Both options come with no commitment.

When you buy, you pay for the device (€199 for the mini, €299 for the 3s), the first month of subscription is free, then the subscription is €5/month. The hardware comes with a 2-year warranty.

With rental, everything is included in the monthly fee: €9.99/month for the mini, €14.99/month for the 3s, plus a €29 activation fee paid after the first month. Rental adds two notable benefits: a lifetime hardware warranty (the device is replaced free of charge if it fails) and, if your stolen motorcycle is never found, a new GeoRide sent free of charge to equip the next one.

In both cases, you can cancel free of charge at any time, or pause the subscription, handy over the winter.

What does the GeoRide subscription include?

The subscription covers everything that keeps the device alive: the multi-operator network in more than 200 countries, 24/7 post-theft Assistance (in mainland France), the automatic emergency call in the event of a crash, real-time alerts on every channel and free lifetime updates for both the app and the device.

In practice, the multi-operator network automatically picks the most reliable operator for the area where your motorcycle is. If you crash while riding, the emergency services are alerted automatically in under 2 minutes when you do not respond, even if your phone is switched off or broken. And lifetime updates mean your device gains new features year after year, at no extra cost.

When you buy, this subscription costs €5/month after a free first month; with rental, it is already included in the monthly fee.

Which Live accessories take you further?

The Live range adds three connected accessories to your device: Live Alarm (€69), Live Detect (€59) and Live Wheel (€89 for the pair). All three are controlled from the GeoRide app.

Live Alarm is a patented 110 dB alarm, compatible with GeoRide 3 and 3s. It goes off automatically at the slightest unauthorised movement, or manually and remotely from the app, wherever you are in the world, to scare thieves off.

Live Detect warns you as soon as your garage door or lock-up is opened, before anyone even touches the motorcycle. It installs in 30 seconds, is completely wireless and can trigger Live Alarm automatically if the door is opened without authorisation. You can pair up to 4 of them with one GeoRide 3s.

Live Wheel monitors your tyre pressure and temperature in real time. The 2 sensors supplied screw on in 2 minutes in place of the valve caps and alert you instantly in the event of a puncture or low pressure.

Does GeoRide work on a scooter or on a vehicle without a battery?

Yes, GeoRide fits every type of vehicle: motorcycle, scooter, quad, car. For a vehicle without a battery or with a small one (50cc scooter, dirt bike, electric bicycle), choose the GeoRide 3s: it accepts 9 to 18 V and charges over USB.

I already have a GeoRide 3: do I have to buy a whole new device?

No, upgrading to the GeoRide 3s costs €29 on rental and €79 on purchase. The new device is sent immediately, the old one goes back afterwards, and your account, your ride history and your settings are all kept, with no break in service.

Can you pause or cancel the subscription?

Yes, cancellation is free of charge and the offers carry no commitment. You can also pause the subscription, for example over the winter. On rental, you simply send the device back; on purchase, there is nothing to return.
