GeoRide publishes the Motorcycle Theft Observatory
In March 2026, GeoRide published the first reference study on motorcycle theft in France, based on the answers of more than 4,600 riders and 385 theft attempts analysed.
What it reveals: in more than one case out of two (51.7%), the GeoRide alert is enough to scare the thief off before the motorcycle even moves. Nationwide, only 24.3% of stolen motorcycles are recovered.

How was GeoRide born?
In 2017, Thomas had his motorcycle stolen, even though it was locked in a secure car park, with an alarm disc lock on top. A lifelong motorcycle fan and owner of a yellow DRZ supermoto, he took it hard. Losing your motorcycle means losing a part of yourself, along with all the memories that go with it.
He then looked into the connected anti-theft devices of the time, compared the reviews, and came away disappointed. Alarms make noise that nobody hears from their flat. Trackers cost €500 to €700, work by SMS and are checked on interfaces from another age, with disappointing battery life and accuracy. None of them warns the owner at the precise moment someone touches their motorcycle.
Thomas decided to build the tool he wished he had had: an app linked to a unit connected to the motorcycle battery. Three features from day one: real-time location with the history of every trip, a connected alarm that warns at the slightest jolt and can trigger a 110 dB siren remotely, and a crash detector to ride with peace of mind, for yourself and for the people who care about you. The point was not to make yet another tracker, but a tool that lets every motorcycle owner sleep soundly.
An app designed with the riding community
A developer by trade, Thomas dropped everything and spent eight months building the app and the unit. GeoRide launched on 6 June 2018, first for him and his friends, then for the whole riding community: reassuring motorcycle owners, reassuring their friends and family, and strengthening solidarity between riders.
From the very first weeks, the notification at the slightest movement of the motorcycle changed users' lives: at last, you sleep soundly. That feeling of peace of mind is what made GeoRide's success.
Since then, the app has kept growing, free of charge for everyone: 24/7 After-theft Assistance, crash detection with an automatic call to the emergency services, recording of every ride, Live accessories, GeoRide mini, then a fully redesigned app in July 2026.
